Microdermabrasion
People have been manually resurfacing their skin since ancient times, but microdermabrasion as we know it today dates back to 1985 when the first microdermabrasion machine was developed by two Italian doctors. And while the machinery and technology continue to evolve, this classic treatment remains popular for several reasons — it’s noninvasive, gentle and effective; helps to reduce fine lines, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, acne scars and pore size; and leaves your skin glowing, firmer and smoother.
Before treatment, the aesthetician will cleanse your skin and prepare it for microdermabrasion. She will then use the handheld device, which features fine diamond chips to gently exfoliate the outermost layers of the skin, while vacuuming the dead cells away — helping to polish and resurface your complexion, and increasing circulation. The process also aids the absorption of any treatment products applied to the skin.
During a consultation prior to treatment, Dr. Hermant will determine if you’re a good candidate for microdermabrasion as well as recommend the number of treatment sessions for optimal results.
